What you get
You answer a questionnaire about the groom. We write you three different drafts of a best man's speech, in the length you chose. You can edit the text as much as you like.
You have access to your speech page for 90 days from the day you pay. Save your own copy before then - we would rather say that plainly than have you find out on the morning of a wedding.
Three drafts means three versions of your speech, written in one go. It does not mean three separate attempts on three separate days. If one of our own safety filters rejects a draft, that is our problem and not yours: we write you a replacement and it does not come out of your three.
Price and payment
£29, including VAT at the applicable UK rate. One payment. Nothing renews, there is no subscription, and there are no further charges of any kind.
Payment is taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
We can only sell to customers in the United Kingdom at the moment. If the billing address on your card is outside the UK, we refund the payment in full automatically and do not supply the speech.
Cancelling, and our guarantee
Buying digital content online, you have 14 days to cancel and get your money back. The 14 days run from the day you buy.
That right ends once we start writing, because you ask us to start straight away and confirm at checkout that asking ends it. We start writing when you first open your speech page, so until you open it the right is still live.
To cancel, email hello@banteredhq.com and say in any clear words that you are cancelling. The written confirmation we send you when you buy carries a form you can copy if you would rather use one, but you do not have to. Tell us inside the 14 days and we will refund you within 14 days of hearing from you.
All of that matters less than it sounds, because our own guarantee is broader than the right you give up. If you are not happy with your speech, email hello@banteredhq.com and we will refund you in full. You do not need a reason, you do not need to argue, and there is no time limit inside your access period.
We send you that written confirmation by email when you buy, and it sets out everything you agreed to. Keep it.
What you agree to when you use it
You are telling us about real people. That carries obligations, and they are the only real obligations in this document:
Do not ask us to write about criminal behaviour, drug use, infidelity or anything similar as though it were established fact. Do not submit material intended to humiliate, harass or damage someone. Do not use the service to write about someone who has told you they do not want to be mentioned.
Our filters block a great deal of this automatically, and they are deliberately cautious. They are not a substitute for your judgement, and passing our filters is not us telling you that something is safe or wise to say.
If you break these rules we can stop supplying you and close your access. Where we do that and you have not had what you paid for, we refund you.
Who is responsible for the speech
We write a draft. You decide what to say, and you stand up and say it. The person delivering a speech to a room is the person publishing it - that is simply how this works, and it is why the editor exists and why we ask you to read what we wrote before you use it.
We do not claim that anything we write is legally safe, and you should be wary of anyone who does. We take real care: there is a list of things we will not write, and every draft is checked against it. That is care, not a guarantee, and we are not going to dress it up as one.
If something we wrote causes a problem, tell us. We keep a copy of every speech we generate for about a year precisely so that we can look at what was actually produced rather than argue about memories.
Who owns what
Your speech is yours. Deliver it, print it, put it on the internet, change every word - we make no claim over it and we do not need a credit.
You keep everything you wrote in the questionnaire. You give us permission to use those answers to write your speech and to run the service, and nothing else. We do not use them to train AI models and neither does our AI provider.
Bantered, the site, and the way the questionnaire and prompts are put together remain ours.
If something goes wrong
There are things the law does not allow us to limit, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights as a consumer - including your right to digital content that is of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
Beyond that, and because this is a £29 product: we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for anything connected with your order is limited to what you paid us. Your statutory rights are unaffected by that sentence.
We do not promise the site is available without interruption. If it is down when you need it and we cannot put that right, ask for your money back.
The rest
We may change these terms. A change applies to orders placed after it - it never changes the deal on an order you already made.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you keep the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
