I'm Darren. I run a small design studio in Surrey called Digitopia, and Bantered is the bit of it that's for people rather than companies.

I've been best man three times. The first time I started the speech the night before and finished it in the car. The second time I started it a week before, threw it away, and finished it in the car. The third time I'd learned nothing, and finished it in the car.

It wasn't for lack of caring. It's that a blank page is the worst possible place to start, and every template I found made it worse. By the time you've deleted “for those of you who don't know me”, you've lost the will.

I had twenty years of stories. I just had no idea which ones were funny to anyone who wasn't there.

So this asks the questions I should have been asked. Who is he, what's he called, what did he do at that festival, what's off limits. Then it writes three drafts from your answers and you take it from there.

The speech that gets read out is yours. It just didn't start from nothing.
